UltraClear Plus is the original, "tried and true" metabolic detoxification formula from Metagenics.

It has an impressive record of success in improving the health of patients suffering from symptoms and conditions associated with toxicity. It is designed for use in the management of food allergies or chemical and environmental sensitivities, and is generally recommended for the "slow detoxifier."

UltraClear Plus provides a comprehensive blend of micronutrients that serve as cofactors in cellular detoxification pathways, and it provides these key nutrients.

If you have needs along these lines, UltraClear Plus will definitely be helpful.

Like many health practitioners, my history and experience with UltraClear Plus is overwhelmingly positive.

I have guided dozens of people through a safe, controlled medical food fast ... using UltraClear Plus.

Due to the predominance of modern environmental toxins, the old-fashioned method of a Water or Juice Fast is often too intense for most people. I have found that using UltraClear Plus to add a small amount of calories coupled with the free-radical neutralizing nutritional compounds makes the Fasting process not only easier, but more profound than any of the 'traditional methods'. It's the 21st Century.... 21st Century fasting tools are needed.

My favorite use for UltraClear Plus is for what I call Overnight Fasting.

Here's how it works (in brief): most people would benefit from not eating within 4 to 5 hours at bedtime. When you go to sleep, your intestines 'go to sleep' as well. If you go to bed with significant amounts of food or beverages in your intestines, there will be prolific fermentation in the gut overnight. Alcohol, aldehydes, metabolic wastes, partially digested food proteins will have a tendency to pass through the lining of the small intestine and thereby "auto-intoxicating" your system. Obviously, such a situation over time is highly detrimental.

Do you eat within 5 hours of bed time?!

As a result, I've recommended Overnight Fasting to literally hundreds of clients through the years. I have recommended that they consider not eating after 6 PM and consuming only water and supplementing as necessary with a small amount of UltraClear Plus. UltraClear Plus helps to stave off hunger cravings, provide a little extra energy and generally make the Overnight Fasting process smoother and easier.

If you have never tried this, it is almost something certainly something you would benefit from. Feel free to check with your regular health practitioner, or me, for more information and the suitability of this dietary protocol for yourself.

On a personal note: I Fast at least twice a year for clarity and health purposes - usually from 10 to 21 days. I typically consume only spring water and the occasional intake of UltraClear Plus. I could not live at the high level of wellness and vitality that do without this Fasting and the assistance UltraClear Plus. I consider it a fundamental to maintaining my health and well being.

Excess Vitamin A intake may be toxic and may increase the risk of birth defects. Pregnant women and women who may become pregnant should not exceed 5,000 IU of pre-formed vitamin A (retinyl acetate or retinyl palmitate) per day. It is also recommended that children under four should not regularly consume more than 2,500 IU per day.

Information on cholesterol content is provided for individuals who, on the advice of a physician, are modifying their dietary intake of cholesterol.

The Pros: UltraClear Plus is hypoallergenic; free from many regular allergens and sensitivity producing ingredients like wheat, gluten, corn, yeast, soy protein, dairy products, or artificial colors, sweeteners, or flavors.

Also, it has a many year, clinically proven track record of assisting people in the process of metabolic detoxification and fasting. There are several copies, or knockoffs, of this product on the market, but ultimately UltraClear Plusis the most pure and effective.

If you have been recommended to UltraClear Plus by your doctor, then most likely UltraClear Plus will be effective for you and your unique circumstance. It truly works.


The Cons: There are very few downside risks with UltraClear Plus.

As mentioned above, I have recommended this product literally hundreds of times, and have had not one negative action or reaction as a result of its proper use.

'Proper Use' would include working closely with your prescribing medical doctor if you are taking significant pharmaceutical medications. These may need to monitored, if not adjusted during UltraClear Plus usage.

• Women who are pregnant and/or lactating. During these times, triggering any sort of detoxification can be potentially detrimental to your child.
• Cancer patients or anyone on a calorie restricted diet. If your health dictates that you have a limited amount of calories per day, UltraClear Plus would not be the ideal source for those nutrients. You can not healthfully survive on UltraClear Plus alone for an extended period of time. Also, the potential for accelerated detoxification and accompanying down side effects are possible when you are on a calorie restricted diet.
• Children under four years old. Children under four years old do not typically need to go on a 'detoxification diet', nor do they need the concentrated nutrients found in UltraClear Plus. For children consider using, UltraClear for Kids.
• Schizophrenics and others with hair trigger mental and emotional states.

UltraClear Plus and the concentrated nutrients are too potentially influencial in creating chemical and neurochemical changes to be safely utilized by these individuals. Chemical changes from detoxification can accelerate certain neurologically reactions that could potentially increased symptoms in these patients.

Liver-based detoxification occurs in two sequential steps - Phase I and Phase II.

Each of these phases involves reactions determined by a number of different detoxifying enzymes. As an essential first step, Phase I reactions generate many reactive intermediate metabolites as well as reactive oxygen species that are potentially damaging.

Phase II reactions convert these reactive intermediate metabolites into water-soluble, non-harmful products that are eliminated from the body.

Taken together, this entire process is termed "biotransformation."

It is essential that Phase I and Phase II activities function in balance with one another to minimize the presence of intermediate metabolites and promote effective detoxification.

One of the body's primary self-defense mechanisms is the conversion and neutralization of these internal metabolic wastes and external environmental toxins into soluble and easily excreted by-products.

UltraClear Plus is also available as UltraClear. UltraClear Plus provides the same same excellent nutrient-rich base formula as UltraClear, with added assistance for those who are "imbalanced detoxifiers" - that is, people who have low Phase II activities. When a person has low Phase II activities, the resulting metabolic imbalances lead to an accumulation of intermediate metabolites and free radicals. Here are some general guidelines:

Why is UltraClear Plus more effective than UltraClear for "imbalanced detoxifiers"?

In addition to providing all of the key nutrients found in UltraClear that support balanced Phase I and Phase II activity, UltraClear Plus also provides the following nutritional factors that further support enhanced Phase II activity:

• Glycine is used in the synthesis of glutathione, which is vital to hepatic antioxidant capacity and full detoxification. Also, Glycine is one of the cofactors used in Phase II amino acid conjugation reactions.
• Taurine supports Phase II amino acid conjugation reactions. Like glycine, it plays an icritical role in the biotransformation of environmental toxins.
• Sodium sulfate provides inorganic sulfate needed for Phase II sulfation conjugation.
• Catechins from decaffeinated green tea concentrate defend against increased hepatic stress. Furthermore, research suggests that these polyphenols stimulate the transcription of Phase II detoxifying enzymes, which may contribute to their anticarcinogenic effect.
