Rescue Remedy® Spray Original Flower Essence gives natural relief from the stresses of everyday life. It is easy to use and discreet, slipping easily into a bag or pocket -- just the thing to ease those pre-interview nerves, help you keep your cool when you're stuck in a traffic jam, or calm you down after a stressful event. It is a gentle, safe and effective treatment for the entire family, especially those who are busy and always on the go. Rescue Remedy® is the most famous of the remedies. In fact, it is not a remedy at all, but rather a mix of five different remedies (Cherry Plum, Clematis, Impatiens, Rock Rose and Star of Bethlehem) which together help deal with any emergency or stressful event where we suddenly lose balance mentally. Taking a driving test, exam nerves, speaking in public, after an accident or an argument - there are countless uses for Rescue Remedy®. The formula contains: • Impatiens: For those who act and think quickly, and have no patience for what they see as the slowness of others. They often prefer to work alone. Teaches empathy for, understanding of, and patience with, others. We've found it very fast-acting in alleviating an impatient attitude and lowering stress. • Star of Bethlehem: For trauma and shock, whether experienced recently or in the past. Teaches the ability to recover from traumas and to integrate them into the present life. • Cherry Plum: For those who fear losing control of their thoughts and actions and doing things they know are bad for them or which they consider wrong. Teaches trust in one's spontaneous wisdom and the courage to follow one's path. • Rock Rose: For situations in which one experiences panic or terror. • Clematis: For those who find their lives unhappy and withdraw into fantasy worlds. They are ungrounded and indifferent to the details of everyday life. Teaches one to establish a bridge between the physical world and the world of ideas; may foster great creativity. Is also used to bring clarity and alertness to the present moment.

The Bach® Original Flower Remedies were developed by Dr. Edward Bach, a doctor, bacteriologist, homeopath, and pathologist. Dr. Bach studied medicine at the University College Hospital in London, where he was a House Surgeon, and had a successful practice on Harley Street. He also worked on a set of homoeopathic nosodes still known as the seven Bach® nosodes. Although his work in orthodox medicine was quite successful, Dr. Bach always believed the focus of medicine should be put on the patient and their mental state as opposed to focusing on the disease itself. He was inspired by his work with homoeopathy, but wanted to find remedies that would be more pure and would work with the emotional state of the patient and not just on the products of disease. He began researching plants for healing in 1928, and in 1930 gave up his medical practice to devote the rest of his life to finding a new system of medicine that was available in nature. Upon embarking on the search for this new system, Dr. Bach had to abandon much of what he learned in his medical training, relying greatly on his natural instincts. He would hold the plant in his hand and use his inner wisdom to feel the healing qualities each might posses. He identified 38 separate negative states of mind, and eventually found remedies aimed at each particular mental state or emotion. After some successes with the first few flower remedies, he became profoundly inspired as well as more and more sensitive to the underlying energies of the plants. He used these to treat the personalities and feelings of his patients, and found that their unhappiness and physical distress would be alleviated as the natural healing potential in their bodies was unblocked and allowed to work once more.In 1934 he decided to settle down and start a center for his work, and he chose Mount Vernon, a small cottage in Sotwell, Oxfordshire. He spent the last years of his life at Mount Vernon, now known as the Bach® Centre, and it was there that he completed his research. Dr. Bach passed away peacefully on the evening of November 27th, 1936. He was only 50 years old, but he left behind several lifetimes of experience and effort, and a system of medicine that is now used all over the world.
The Bach® Original Flower Remedies are a complete system of 38 flower remedies that directly correlate with 38 primary emotional states. These essences help us to balance our negative emotional states, thus allowing us to live emotionally healthy lives. The Bach® Flower Remedies of today are still made under the same specifications they were in the days of Dr. Bach himself. More than seventy years later, the rule of 'simplicity and purity in the method' is still the governing basis for preparation and distribution of the remedies. Judy Ramsell Howard is the Principal of the Bach® Centre. One of her many tasks is to insure that the remedies are made exactly as they were by Dr. Bach. As she says, "Many of the plants we use come from sites originally identified by Dr. Bach himself and we still make the remedies just as they were made in Dr. Bach's day. The method has been passed down lovingly through the generations. He taught his assistants, who taught my aunt and father, who have in turn taught me, and we continue to make the remedies using all the love, care and attention to detail that has always gone into their preparation here at Mount Vernon." In the 1930s Dr. Bach enlisted the help of Nelsons Homeopathic Pharmacy in London to assist him in distributing his remedies. To this day, Nelsons (the Pharmacy's parent company) has been responsible for all the bottling and distribution of the remedies.
Through Nelsons, the stock remedies can be bottled on a larger scale, meet the necessary regulatory requirements, and still be made following the original instructions of Dr. Bach. This insures that the remedies are easily available to all. The Bach® Original Flower Remedies are used by individuals and respected medical and complementary health practitioners alike, and are sold in over 65 counties worldwide.
Preparing Flower Remedies is a three step process: First, the Mother tinctures are prepared from plant material and natural spring water using either the Sun or Boiling Method as described below. Next the mother tincture is made from water mixed with an equal quantity of 40% alcohol. The alcohol acts purely as a preservative for the remedy. Finally stock bottles are made by adding the mother tincture to 27% alcohol.
There are two methods of preparing the mother tinctures:
The Sun Method: The flowers are picked on a warm summer day in full sunshine. They are placed in a glass bowl with fresh water, preferably taken from a spring close to the location of the flower. The bowl is then placed in the sun for two to four hours. During this process the sun transfers the vibration of the flowers into the medium of the water, which in this way becomes energetically infused. The Boiling Method: In the boiling method, flowers and buds are picked according to the sun method but due to their heartier nature must be boiled down. The extract is filtered several times and then mixed with an equal portion of alcohol as a preservative.
The Dr. Edward Bach Centre (Oxfordshire, England) was the home and workplace of Dr. Bach in the last years of his life, when he completed his research into the flower remedies. Today, it is run by friends and colleagues that he trained and to whom he entrusted full responsibility to adhere to his exact methods of preparation. While there are a number of flower essences now available, only the Bach ® Original Flower Remedies are created at Mount Vernon. Each one bears the Bach® signature to guarantee it has been made as Dr. Bach requested.
Making mother tinctures is, of course, the most famous activity that goes on at the Bach® Centre. In addition, Mount Vernon has become the world center for education and information on Dr. Bach's work, including publications and referral to practitioners. The Centre is open to visitors, and in everything done there, the aim is to maintain the simplicity and purity of Dr. Bach's work in the way he intended.
Flowers, as with all living things, are imprinted with a specific vibratory energy. Our bodies, too, are a complex system of electrical vibrations. When this electrical system is flowing smoothly, our physical bodies experience health. If there are blocks in the flow, imbalances will occur and create outward symptoms. Flower essences address the energetic blocks by introducing a balancing vibratory effect, thus returning the emotional, mental, and energetic states to their normal flow. Once this has happened, the physical symptoms of illness caused by the blockage can, over time, dissipate. The rate of healing can vary with each individual and condition. As with all homeopathic remedies, it is not uncommon to experience what is known as The Healing Crisis while using flower essences. This occurs when the initial condition is treated and removed only to reveal another deeper issue underneath. Sometimes the initial condition can seem to even worsen as the negative emotions are exposed in order to be released and healed. Conversely, the effect of the flower essence can be so subtle that the individual may not realize until weeks later that the condition no longer exists. With homeopathic flower essences, just like any energetic healing tool, the receptiveness of the patient to allow the free flow of energy will also have a direct effect on the success rate of the remedy.Organic Pharmacy is an independent reseller/retailer and is not affiliated with Bach® Original Flower Remedies, Limited.
