Red Clover ( Trifolium pratense ) is a short- lived perennial plant grown in Europe, Britain and throughout the northeast USA. Red clover is one of the oldest crops cultivated as forage for the feeding of livestock and horses. The ancient Greeks, Romans and Celts revered this plant. Its three leaves reminded the early Christians a symbol of the Trinity. Red clover has a rich and long history in American medicine. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries this common plant was even a main ingredient in medicines known as Trifolium compounds. Red clover was listed in the National Formulary for skin diseases until 1946.

More modern day scientific research has shown that Red Clover contains a group of phytoestrogen compounds called isoflavones. The four major isoflavones identified in Red clover are Formonnetin,  Biochanin A, Genistein and Diadzein . Phtyoestrogens are naturally occurring compounds found in Red clover and other plants that are structurally related to 17beta-estradiol. Researchers have found that isoflavones may act as anti-estrogens and actually compete with estradiol at the cell binding site. This characteristic and others may be responsible for Red clovers ability to support healthy estrogen levels and usefulness during menopause.

To assure the quality and efficacy of our Red Clover Standardized extract we’ve employed a third party laboratory to analyze the individual isoflavones of the extract in order to qualify it for acceptance into our standardized herbal extract line. Other important tests are also performed to ensure the safety of the Red Clover Standardized extract such as microbiological assay, heavy metals and PAH analyses. As part of our commitment to our customers we invest our resources liberally to ensure the safety and efficacy of the supplements and foods we offer.

In today’s stressful world, immune system health is more important than ever. History has proven that no matter what we do to combat viruses, bacteria and parasites, they have the remarkable capability to mutate for survival, often returning in a more virulent form than before.

However, mutating microbes are only part of the problem confronting our immune systems. Factors such as environmental pollution and over-processing of foods are believed by many researchers to play a major role in many health conditions. Which means, more than ever before, you need to make sure your immune system is functioning at peak efficiency.
