Probiotic Intestinal Support contains certain nutrients required for maintaining the proper permeability of the intestinal mucosa (MPF-mucosal permeability factor) and, therefore, may benefit the healing process. L-Glutamine is a major respiratory fuel for the gut and is the preferred fuel for intestinal epithelial cells. N-Acetyl Glucosamine and other amino sugars form the protective mucous layer and cellular cement that regulate intestinal permeability, and are an integral part of cell membranes and the interstitial tissue which holds cells together. Gamma Oryzanol is used in treating a broad range of gastrointestinal disorders including stress-induced gastric and duodenal ulcers. Quercetin helps to protect against mucosal injury. Zinc Picolinate accelerates wound healing dramatically and has been particularly effective when used to accelerate healing of gastric ulcers. By strengthening the cell walls, it helps protect the mucous membrane against invading bacteria. This product provides "friendly" acidophilus and bifido intestinal bacteria along with fructo-oligosaccharides which promote their proliferation, to balance intestinal flora.*
