GTF Chromium, or Glucose Tolerance Factor Chromium, is the biologically active form of chomium in the body. Other than in the body, GTF chromium is found only in foods. There have been many attempts to isolate or synthesize the GTF; none have been successful. It has been proposed that GTF chromium is a complex of chromium, nicotinic acid, and possibly the amino acids glycine, cysteine, and glutamic acid. GTF chromium works closely with insulin to facilitate the uptake of glucose into cells.
