About Alacer Corp. (Emergen-C's Parent Company)

ALACER comes from the Latin word for quick, eager, or lively. These adjectives certainly described Jay Patrick, who founded Alacer Corp. in 1972. At the age of 60, when most people are planning for retirement, he started Alacer Corp. Over the next 30 years (until his passing in 2003), he continued to build it into one of the leaders in the field of health food supplements and Vitamin C.

In 1970, Jay developed a timed-release Vitamin C tablet that included all seven mineral ascorbates, in addition to other vitamins and minerals, and gave it the name Super Gram III.

Super Gram III proved highly successful, and in 1978, Jay and the Alacer team developed a product containing mineral carbonates which would react in water to form a great tasting drink, simulating the animal production of the seven mineral ascorbates which humans cannot produce in their own bodies. The product was introduced to the World Congress on Vitamin C in 1978 and was named Emergen-C.

As distribution of Emergen-C grew to include all 50 states and international markets, Alacer Corp. found a need to expand its facilities. In 2006, Alacer moved into a newly renovated, state-of-the-art facility in Foothill Ranch, California with the capacity to produce over 300 million packets per year.

WHAT ARE THE AGE RECOMMENDATIONS FOR EMERGEN-C?
Kids Multi-Vitamin (formerly Strawberry for Kids) is for children 8 to 14 years of age; for children younger than 8, please consult your health professional before use. All other flavors of Emergen-C can be used by persons 15 years and older.

WHERE DOES YOUR VITAMIN C COME FROM AND WHAT DO YOU DO TO ASSURE ITS QUALITY?
Our Vitamin C supplier, Jiangsu Jiangshan Pharmaceutical Corp. (JSPC), is a large pharmaceutical (not nutraceutical) enterprise in China. JSPC operates using Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and the control standard maintained by the company is higher than international standards. JSPC is also in conformity with ISO9002 standards (international recognition) and they meet U. S. Pharmacopoeia, British Pharmacopoeia and Japanese Pharmacopoeia standards.

Additionally, once the material is received by Alacer, it is held in quarantine for analytical testing to assure ingredient identity and purity. During production, another series of tests is conducted. Finally, all finished goods are held in quarantine again for a final round of analytical testing. This same level of rigorous testing is applied to every ingredient Alaceruses.

DO YOUR PRODUCTS CONTAIN GLUTEN FROM WHEAT, OATS, RYE, OR BARLEY?
No.

HOW MUCH CRANBERRY IS ACTUALLY IN YOUR CRANBERRY EMERGEN-C?
Each packet of our Cranberry Emergen-C contains the equivalent of about 14 fresh cranberries.

IS THE FRUCTOSE IN EMERGEN-C FROM HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP?
No. The fructose we use is pure crystalline fructose, which is purified and minimally processed, unlike high fructose corn syrup or white sugar, which are highly refined and processed.

IS ASPARTIC ACID THE SAME AS ASPARTAME?
No. Aspartame is a sugar substitute whereas aspartic acid is an amino acid. We do not use aspartame or any other artificial sweeteners in any of our products.

DO YOUR PRODUCTS CONTAIN ANY GMO INGREDIENTS?
No. We do not use ingredients that were produced using biotechnology (GMO) in any of the Alacer products.

DO YOUR PRODUCTS CONTAIN MSG?
No. Neither Alacer nor our suppliers add or use MSG. Alacer uses natural fruit flavors that are of such high quality they do not require the use of MSG to enhance their flavor.

DOES EMERGEN-C CONTAIN CAFFEINE?
No. We do not use caffeine in any of our products.

WHAT INGREDIENTS DO YOU USE TO COLOR EMERGEN-C?
We use natural ingredients such as: vegetable juice color, caramel color, annatto powder, beta carotene, and natural beet color. Refer to the supplement facts on each product for a complete list.

IS EMERGEN-C BUFFERED?
Yes. Emergen-C is buffered with seven different minerals.

CAN I TAKE EMERGEN-C IF I AM PREGNANT OR NURSING?
If pregnant or nursing, please consult a health professional before use.

IS EMERGEN-C AVAILABLE IN BULK OR RECYCLABLE PACKAGING?
Emergen-C is moisture-sensitive and effervescent, so individual airtight packages are necessary to keep the powder dry inside. Consequently, we are not able to offer bulk packaging. All Emergen-C boxes are fully recyclable and come from sustainable sources.

CAN I DRINK EMERGEN-C HOT?
Yes. You can drink Emergen-C hot. Use hot but not boiling water.

IS EMERGEN-C KOSHER CERTIFIED?
No. Emergen-C is not Kosher Certified.

I TRIED A NEW EMERGEN-C FLAVOR, BUT IT DOESN'T DISSOLVE THE SAME. WHY?
In most cases, Emergen-C products dissolve completely. However, we use natural fruit powders and plant extracts and do not use any chemical additives to break the natural fibers down, so a few of the Emergen-C flavors might require stirring. For best results: Pour the contents in a dry glass first, then add 4-6 oz of water. If needed, stir.

WILL EMERGEN-C CONFLICT WITH THE MEDICATIONS I AM TAKING?
Please consult with your health professional before taking Emergen-C with medications.

SHOULD I TAKE EMERGEN-C OR THE TABLETS?
Our Founder, Jay Patrick, personally used a combination of Emergen-C and tablets to obtain optimal Vitamin C coverage for himself. He recommended the following:

* Sustained-release tablets for day and night Vitamin C coverage.*
* Sleep Health (formerly CMA) if you occasionally need help sleeping.*

ARE YOUR INGREDIENTS NATURAL OR SYNTHETIC?
Some ingredients are from natural sources and some are synthetic. We may use synthetics when the natural source is animal-derived, so we can keep the product vegetarian, or if it includes a common allergen, or because the natural source is not available in the quantities we require.

WHICH OF YOURPRODUCTS CONTAIN ANIMAL DERIVATIVES?
Joint Health contains glucosamine derived from crustacean shellfish and chondroitin derived from bovine sources. Immune Defense Emergen-C contains honey derived from beeswax.
