Cholesterol Shield lists 10 mg of sodium. What is the source of the sodium in this product?
The major source of sodium in Cholestorol Shield is the modified cellulose gum. Labeling regulations require sodium content to be listed on the label to the nearest 5 mg increment, which for this product is 10 mg (although it actually contains between 5 and 10 mg). This amount is miniscule; 10 mg of sodium is equivalent to 1/200 of a teaspoon of salt. For comparison purposes, a medium stalk of raw celery (Apium graveolens) contains approximately 35 mg of sodium.
Is Cholestorol Shield effective in support of healthy lipoprotein A levels?
A proprietary study has shown that Cholestorol Shield supports healthy total cholesterol levels, high-density lipoprotein (HDL) levels, low density lipoprotein (LDL) levels, and triglyceride levels. However, Cholestorol Shield was not studied specifically for its support of healthy lipoprotein (a) levels.*
Lipoproteins are large complexes of molecules that transport lipids (or fats) through the bloodstream. The primary lipids that lipoproteins transport are triglycerides and cholesterol. Lipoprotein (a) is a protein on the surface of the lipoprotein that binds to specific enzymes or transport proteins on the cell membranes. An elevated level of lipoprotein (a) is an independent risk factor for atherosclerosis.*
Current medical research is focusing on the relationship between lipoprotein (a) levels and cardiovascular health. As new information develops, we hope to have a clearer understanding of the potential role that Cholestorol Shield may play in retaining normal lipoprotein (a) levels.
Will Cholesterol Shield clinical formula work if taken between, instead of with, meals?
