Cascara Sagrada Bark Liquid Extract

Scientific Name: Rhamnus purshiana
Common Name: Cascara Sagrada

Cascara Sagrada, also known as “sacred bark”, was first introduced to Spanish explorers during the 16th century by North American Indians. It has a mild laxative effect, due to the natural constituents that that induce contractions in the large intestines.*

Cascara Sagrada contains compounds called anthroquinones, which are responsible for cascara's nutritional effects on the intstines. Anthraquinones can assist contractions in the colon, called peristalsis. This may invite the intestine to relinquish withheld feces.*

The 1 and 2 ounce sizes of this product have been discontinued.
