5-Hydroxy-L-Tryptophan 5-Hydroxy-L-Tryptophan (5HTP) is derived from the West African legume Griffonia Simplicifolia. It is a natural precursor to raise serotonin levels in the brain. Serotonin affects mood and sense of well being. Depression is known to be caused by lowered serotonin levels, as well as some neurological conditions.
